ESG Pyrotech Ultimate fire resistant safety glass combines safety, sound attenuation and attack resistance

25 February 2010
ESG manufactures the versatile CERTIFIRE approved fire resistant safety glass range on the UK. ESG Pyrotech™ Ultimate is the ultimate in fire resistant safety glass, allowing the specifier to combine fire resistance with a host of other properties. These include safety, sound attenuation, attack resistance and privacy screening, all produced in-house at ESG.

Using highly technical sophisticated interlayers, ESG can now combine the crime-reducing, safety-maximising properties of all these genres into a single product.

As well as making all these properties available together, ESG has provided a range of fire resistant glass products which solve one problem at a time. Using its ESG Pyrotech™, the company has introduced new additions called ‘Safe’, ‘Secure’, ‘Acoustic’, ‘LCD Privacy’ and ‘Ultimate’ to its ESG Pyrotech™ fire resistant safety glass range. Responding to the needs of its many and diverse customers, ESG embarked on a programme of research and development, resulting in these new specialist products.

“Critical to the process was ensuring that all our new products would be CERTIFIRE approved and would meet the requirements of Building Regulations and increasingly stringent legislation,” commented Scott Sinden, ESG’s managing director.

“To this end we invested resources in creating not only a suitable fire resistant safety glass range for a wide variety of applications, but also one that will address other functions; such as sound attenuation, increased security or privacy; all in one specially created panel,” he explained.

Within each specialist range ESG Pyrotech™ products are supplied in four standard thicknesses. All of the ESG Pyrotech™ products are CERTIFIRE approved for use in timber doors, screens, or steel frames. The versatility of the range also allows ESG to provide clients with bespoke thicknesses for specific project applications.

The entire range comprises:

ESG Pyrotech™ Safe – a toughened laminated fire resistant safety glass providing a highly resilient panel which will remain in place in the event of breakage.

ESG Pyrotech™ Secure – certified to meet the latest European standard EN356: Security Glazing through an independent UKAS accredited body, this is approved by the ACPO Secured By Design initiative and gives protection against vandalism or intrusion.

ESG Pyrotech™ Acoustic – provides the highest dB performance with the thinnest possible panel without any compromise of the panel’s performance as a fire resistant safety glass. Highly practical, cost effective and easier to handle.

ESG Pyrotech™ LCD Privacy – a technically advanced LCD privacy interlayer makes the panel a diffused white when the current is switched off. Once current is passed through the interlayer, strands of randomly oriented fibres line up, allowing light to pass through, giving the appearance of optically clear glass.

ESG Pyrotech™ Ultimate
ESG can combine any of the safety, security, acoustic, and privacy screening properties to provide a technically advanced product that will fulfil the most exacting specifications; all without any loss of performance as a fire resistant safety glass.

All ESG products are tested to the appropriate required standards for their use.
